MOVING THE
INQUEST MICROSOFT ACCESS DATABASE
I.
MAKE
A CURRENT BACKUP
a. Open Inquest
b. From the “File” menu select “Database”
c. On the “Database” submenu select the “Backup” menu option
d. Select a backup location such as an external/USB hard drive
e. Enter a filename
f. Click the “Save” button
g. A confirmation message will display when the backup is complete, click “OK”
h. Close Inquest
II.
REMOVE THE OLD DATABASE
a. Start Inquest, stop at the “Open Company Data Source” window
b. Select the company name for the old database location
c. Click the ”Remove selected company…” button
III.
CREATE THE NEW MICROSOFT ACCESS DATABASE
a. Follow the instructions outlined for creating a new Microsoft Access database

IV.
RESTORE THE CURRENT BACKUP
a. Open Inquest
b. From the “File” menu select “Database”
c. On the “Database” submenu select the “Restore” menu option
d. Browse to and select you backup file from step “I.” above
e. Click the “Open” button
f. A confirmation dialog will display. Type in YES and click “OK” to confirm the restore
g. When the restore completes, click the OK button
